The Battle for Supremacy - “2009 Women's World Handball Championships” Broadcast.
Fighting for the “2009 Women's World Handball Championship” (WCH)
for the first time ever in China were participants from all corners of the earth. From December 5 until December 20, 2009 the 19th edition of WCH was held in the southeastern province of Jiangsu. There were a total of 24 teams competing in 6 Chinese cities to become the 2009 World Champion.
In the end, Russia defeated France in a close head to head matchup in Nanjing to take home the trophy.
Like the 24 participating teams, CTVS showed relentless enthusiasm to make this giant sporting event a great success. During all phases of the competition, CTVS provided its unparalleled services to bring the world audience thousands of minutes of transmission from each venue, feeding footage to various continents including North and South America, Europe and Asia. The CTVS crew worked in coordination with a team of 30 individuals from the Chinese state-owned TV-station CCTV, the "Shanghai Media Group", "Jiangsu Television", and the venue manager-a representative of "Sportfive" from Germany.
During the entire 110 matches, CTVS provided fully equipped commentary positions and technical support for over a dozen television stations and their respective telecasts.
In closer examination we look to the city of Changzhou, in Jiangsu Province. CTVS supplied its professional services to this preliminary round and for the Yangzhou venue holding the semi-final rounds. These productions consisted of an 8-person crew (production manager, sound engineer and 6 SNG staff) with over 1 ton of equipment (fully equipped commentary positions, 300 meters of 10 channel XLR cables and an additional 300 meters of fiber optic cable for redundancy).
As the preliminary tournament approached the final game, all personnel and equipment were repositioned and transported over 200 kilometers away, successfully setup, and tested at the new venue within 24 hours.
After this, CTVS repeated their logistical excellence when the Finals were held in the city of Nanjing. All equipment was again taken another 200 km, where it was successfully prepared within an impressive 24-hour time span.
For these three venues alone, CTVS moved over 1000 kilograms of equipment 6 times within a two week period a distance of several hundred miles. Against these odds CTVS worked without delay, and provided services within the required standards of three different continents’ broadcasters. This is why CTVS is your champion broadcast provider. While showing the World the very best in women’s handball, CTVS competed in their own broadcasting championship, and came out the victor. That’s determination, that’s an inspired champion, that’s CTVS.
