CTVS Roadtrips on the AUDI Trans-China Tour 2011
World renowned and top selling automobile brand Audi in the fall of 2011 conceived of the idea of a road trip around China to showcase the Audi Q3.
CTVS crews followed 20 Audi Q3s through 16 Chinese cities in the same number of days. Originally CTVS produced 16 episodes in 16 days for the Chinese audience and again in the month of October trekked the route again. This time with adventurous American travel host Brendan Madden who has produced films for Lonely Planet and recently made a short about skiing in Iraq.
All 16 episodes were produced, shot, and edited in both English and German.
In total the trip covered close to 5,000 km (3100 miles). The films were shot on HD-CAM F-900s with b-roll shots using EX-3, and a few Go-Pros for those hard to reach shots. All edits were done at the conclusion of each day's filming and transport. Together there were two fully equipped Mac Pro Final Cut Pro studios including Adobe CS4 for graphics, with Mackie mixers, 2x Samsung 27" computer monitors, 1x24" broadcast output monitors, and audio speakers.
All episodes were uploaded daily via satellite transmission to Munich, Germany where they were then made available to the world at large via Youtube.
